Telemarketing Lists and Consumer Mailing List information: Sometimes they do it because it's the company's policy. Sometimes they want support for an intuitive decision they've already made. Occasionally, the research is actually helpful. If the company has a marketing plan and a budget for market research, the research department is supposed to spend the money. The boss will say, "Did you do the research? We can't move ahead without the research."
In November 1996, Jesse Kalisher, who writes a research column in Brandweek magazine, told the story of a brand manager he knew who recommended that the company introduce her product in a large size. The recommendation detailed the category's growth, the competitive volume in larger sizes, a strong endorsement from the sales department, and all the relevant financial figures. The recommendation floated easily through her division, only to be held up by corporate.
The brand group was then instructed to take two different large sizes that were mere ounces apart to focus groups before a new size would be approved. But even if the researchers do something more serious, they may end up with data that has little actionable value. Recently a client showed us a study her corporation had commissioned from a well-known and reputable research firm and asked whether we could use it to help develop and implement a new marketing strategy.
About Telemarketing Lists
This method may be a bit impersonal, and many consider it an invasion of privacy, but it's commonly practiced. And for many a company, it works. Machines aren't hurt by rejection as easily as people.
The second is mass telemarketing which is carried out by firms specializing in it or by dedicated telemarketing departments and is directed at thousands of potential customers at a time. The third is by computer. Computerized calling machines actually call prospects, deliver sales pitches, and even pause during their messages so that prospects can answer questions and place orders.
A 1 or 2 percent response rate can be very cost-effective.
